The next release from our small (but mighty) label, Dangerhouse Skylab, will hit the shelves on 9 October, featuring this superb new album by the Playboys, Rien Ne Va Plus.Recorded in the spring at Red Box Studios under the guidance of Andy Rose, the British sound engineer (known for his work with The Stranglers, Fleetwood Mac and Madness, amongst others), the album features 14 tracks paying homage to French Beat: 12 originals (including two instrumentals) and two covers – Je Ne Vois Rien by Les Problèmes and Rien n’a d’Importance by The Sparks... The vinyl mastering is by François Terrazzoni at Parelies, the photographs are by Youri Lenquette, the text for Rien Ne Va Plus is by Jean-William Thoury, the cover design is by Sasham Thierry, the Playboys’ costumes and sets are courtesy of the band themselves, and the Riviera Sound is set to rock once again! DSL 122, 500 copies, flipback sleeve.

The other upcoming release from our small (but mighty) label, Dangerhouse Skylab, is scheduled for 2 October, and we’re continuing our Nancy-based series with this splendid double LP dedicated to the magnificent SQUARES. Undoubtedly one of the best French garage bands of the 90s, between 1990 and 1995 they unleashed a raw 60s/rhythm-and-blues sound deeply rooted in the spirit of the flourishing Medway scene (Kent, UK) of Billy Childish and the Prisoners, amongst others. Having released five albums and five singles in this short space of time, they were amongst the first bands to record at Liam Watson’s legendary Toe Rag studio alongside the Kaisers, the Neanderthals, the Gloomies and the Flaming Stars. Ollie was also the drummer for the Headcoats in the early 90s, and following their split in 1995, other projects emerged such as Mr Zero, the Cheeraks and Thundercrack, whilst Stanley also devoted himself to his talent as a luthier through Roadrunner Guitars. 2025 was the right time for a reunion; they played at Wild Weekend in Majorca and supported the Masonics in Paris. And so the big news is the release of this magnificent double LP: the first vinyl, Night Of The Squares, bringing together all the band’s singles, and the second, Square Roots, unveiling 15 previously unreleased covers (and a few live versions) recorded back in the day at Toe Rag, to make the most of the studio’s extra time and fill the remaining space on the tapes, paying tribute to their heroes Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, The Kinks, The Milkshakes and others. Double LP with illustrated inner sleeves, mastered by Tim Warren, DSL 101, 350 copies.
